Official visit from W.Bro. the Rev Martin Howes APGM.

An Official visit from the Rev Martin Howes APGM on the 16th April 2024 who presented Bro. Paul Chapman with his Grand Lodge Certificate. The lodge then successfully ballotted for Bro. Richard Cherry as a joining member and conducted the Passing of Bro. Jacob Church.

Bro. Andrew Lamb completes the Yorkshire
3 Peak Challenge, raising £1600 for local charities

Bro Andrew Lamb on the Yorkshire three peaks challenge

On the 26th of August 2023, our own Bro. Andrew lamb with shear determination took on the Yorkshire Dales 3 Peak challenge and completed the trek under the 12 hours. He covered a distance of 24 miles while scaling the highest peaks Peny-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. He raised a total of £1600 for local charities.

Bro. Andrew was Initiated into Thamestide Lodge on the 4th February 2020 and is a third generation Lewis. We are very proud of his exploits, and to have him as a member of Thamestide Lodge.

 

 

 


Back in the Chair after 36 years

A very special occasion, as on the 26th September 2023 Thamestide's long standing Secretary, W.Bro. Jim Parker PPJGW was Installed as Worshipful Master of Thamestide Lodge for the first time since 1987. The outgoing Master W.Bro. Robert Vine PPAGReg, LGR now taking on the role of Lodge Secretary.

A new initiate for 2021

On the 13th December 2021, Bro. Jack Shaw Deane was happily Initiated into Thamestide Lodge by his Proposer, the Lodge Secretary W.Bro. Jim Parker. Bro. Andrew Lamb who although still a Fellowcraft, acted as Junior Deacon for the meeting and escorted Bro. Jack throughout the ceremony in an exceptional manner.

The 4th Februrary 2020, was a very proud day for W.Bro. Graham Lamb when he Initiated his son Bro. Andrew Lamb. Andrew became a third generation Lewis to his Grandfather W.Bro. A.W. W.Bro. Graham Lamb celebrates 50 years in masonry

W.Bro. Graham Lamb celebrates 50 years in masonry

On the 9th December 2019 Rev Martin Howse APGM presented one of Thamestides longest serving members W.Bro. Graham Lamb PPDGSwdB with a Certificate to mark his 50 years in freemasonry. Rev Martin pointed out some of the highlights of W.Bro Graham's life in a most humerous manner. W.Bro. Graham then went on to thank the Lodge and W.Bro. Martin.

On 15th July 2017 Bro. Matt Phillips and his wife Allison treated members of Thamestide Lodge, their families and friends to a most enjoyable BBQ at their home in Bowers Gifford. Copious amounts excellent food and drink were made available and the event raised £270 towards the 2022 Festival.

 


Thamestide Lodge celebrated its 50th Anniversary on 18th April 2017.

50th Anniversary meeting

Thamestide Lodge No 8147 celebrated its 50th Anniversary in style with many of its regular guests. We were also honoured by the presence of W.Bro's. Paul Tarrant PJGD APGM, Robert Whittingham PSGD APGM and Alan Everard PSGD PAPGM. Bro. Matthew Phillips was Raised in excellent manner and the cherry on the cake was the presentation to W.Bro. Bernie Collins PPSGD of his certificate celebrating 60 years in freemasonry by the APGM W.Bro. Paul Tarrant.


Sadly W.Bro. Bernie passed away on the 14th September 2023 aged 98. He had been promoted to PPGSwdB in 2019. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

50th Anniversary Lapel BadgeAlso presented to all who attended the meeting was the new Thamestide 50th Anniversary Lapel Badge.

 

A new set of Gavels were presented for the lodge to the Worshipful Master by W.Bro. Brian Cattermole ProvDGReg to celebrate the Anniversary. More details and photographs will be added soon.

 

 

 


 

A new initiate for 2016

Bro Matthew Phillips and the WM W.Bro. Neil Clare

Thamestide Lodge No 8147 happily received a new Initiate Bro Matthew Phillips into the Lodge at the meeting held on April 19th 2016. The Initiation ceremony was conducted by W.Bro Neil Clare the current Master of the Lodge. Bro Matthew is a candidate recommended to the Lodge from Provincial Grand Lodge.

W.Bro. David Silverstone celebrates 50 years in masonry

The Prov SGW  W.Bro. Brian Wright presented W.Bro.David Silverstone with a certificate to mark his 50 years as a Freemason.

At the meeting of Thamestide Lodge No. 8147 held at Saxon Hall on Tuesday the 3rd February 2015 the Prov SGW W.Bro. Brian Wright PJGD presented W.Bro. David Silverstone PPJGW with a certificate to mark his 50 years as a Freemason. 

W.Bro. Brian gave a resume of David’s Masonic career interspersed with a selection of happenings at the time of each milestone. It was also noted that during his 50 years in the craft there had been six Provincial Grand Masters.

W. Bro David thanked the Prov SGW and brethren and was congratulated by all present for his dedication to the craft and Thamestide Lodge in particular.

Sadly W.Bro. David passed away on the 22nd August 2015. He was a great supporter of Thamestide Lodge and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
